Isabel Whitehead, M.A. Counselling Psychology, M.A. (Cultural Studies), Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Therapy Areas: depression, anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, perfectionism, ADHD, low self-esteem, shame, guilt, identity issues, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions and adjustment, and relationship difficulties.

I work with individuals to incite positive change, self-discovery, and personal growth. I use a client-centred, trauma-informed, attachment-based, anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and integrative approach, drawing on counselling modalities that are best suited for each individual. My therapeutic approach blends a number of theoretical orientations and frameworks including cognitive-behavioural, dialectical-behavioural, emotion-focused, psychodynamic, and narrative therapy, mindfulness approaches, and solution-focused brief therapy.

In our first session, we will work together to establish your personal goals and explore the concerns that brought you to therapy. I believe that building a trusting, supportive client-counsellor relationship is essential to foster healing and provide a safe environment for self-exploration. I strive to work with individuals using a warm, empathetic, strengths-based, and non-judgemental approach. We all possess strengths and resilience; I enjoy working with individuals to identify their unique strengths, which can be valuable tools in the therapeutic process.

I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Arts degree in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

I look forward to working together.
