Ashley MacIntyre, M.Ed., Registered Psychotherapist

Therapy Areas: life transitions and adjustment, anxiety, depression, motivation, ADHD, disordered eating, body image, self-esteem, emotion dysregulation, identity issues, sexuality, relationship difficulties, family conflict, sexual abuse, trauma

I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is a meaningful and essential component of the healing process. Therefore, I aim to create a safe, warm, and empathetic space for people to explore and understand their experiences. Beginning a therapeutic journey can feel challenging and daunting, but also rewarding and fulfilling. I believe that every individual is the expert of their own life, which is why I make every effort to meet my clients where they are at in their own journey and collaboratively come up with a plan specific to them. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to therapy, as everyone is different; has a unique life story; and seeks help for their own personal reasons.

I work with a client-centred, trauma-informed, and integrative approach, while pulling from emotion-focused, cognitive-behavioural, acceptance and commitment, and interpersonal therapy, as well as attachment theory. I believe greater empathy and understanding can be fostered when recognizing the importance of all cultural backgrounds, which is why I take an anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and non-judgemental stance throughout my practice.

I received my Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Ottawa. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
